Some Questions to ask when deciding on a CBO project.

Who supplies the beans, maize, vegetables, eggs, chicken, milk, meat, rice, bananas , fish, ………..,that feed the schools or institutions in your village, location, or town? Who tailors their uniform?

Who grows the nuts that produce the vegetable oils that you buy from the grocery store? Who processes the nuts into oil?

Who owns the vehicle that transports you from the nearest town to your village?

Who owns the internet café, or the call center that you use when you go home?

Who makes the furniture for your home town?

Who supplies the building materials?

Who makes the coffins?

Who owns the mortuary?

Who supplies the dry ice for fish traders in your beach?

Who owns the andururu (motor boat)?

Who owns the NGO that comes around my village only once in a while?

Who supplies the food to the humanitarian organizations in Congo, Southern Sudan, Northern Uganda and North Eastern Kenya?

Who processes the fish carcasses into dog food for export?

Who is jobless in the city with a college degree?

Who is educated and still howling, “I can’t find a job”?

Who owns that new farmers market just outside the city?

Who owns that barter bank?

Who owns that big screen tv theatre?

Who owns that company that picks up trash in my town, or the land where it is dumped?

Who owns that place where they build new ships that transport people and goods around lake Victoria and the Nile?

Is the answer to some of these questions, “Me”, “my village” or “someone from my village”? Can you see the endless opportunities? Please add some more questions to the list that apply specifically to you or your village.
