SECURITY BEEFED UP IN KARATENG

Maseno District Officer Mr. James Boit, has cautioned residence of Nyawita, Marera, Ongiyo, Mbalawandu and Nyabera to be wary of armed thugs masquerading as police officers and operating in these regions.

Addressing the press at his office in Maseno, the D.O said security has been doubled in attempt to curb the gang. More than twenty suspects have been arrested. He added they are cooperating.  This assists the police working on this investigation.

On other reports from Balawandu village indicate that residents are eagerly waiting for the promised series of deaths. A robbery victim, Mr. Julius Oriko Owinga, brought in a traditional medicine man from Uganda to punish the robbers who made away with his property worth 50,000/=.

The D.O was reacting to resent cases of robbery in these regions. The latest is in Nyabera next to Nyabera bridge on Friday 11th May 2007. Mr. Jacob Odhiambo Ouya was mugged and robbed of 5000/= and a mobile phone.
