REGIONAL  LEADERS TO MEET IN NAIROBI THIS WEEK

The newly elected president in the DemocratRepublic of the Congo (DRC) Joseph Kabila is among 10 heads of state expected to converge in the Kenya capital, Nairobi tomorrow.
 
    The leaders will be attending a meeting of the Great Lakes Region, which is scheduled to be held at the UNEP headquarters located at Gigiri in the outskirts of the Kenya capital. The meeting will be opened by the host president Mwai Kibaki. of Kenya .
 
   This will be president Kabila`s first trip outside his country after winning bruising second round, but final election battle with his opposition rival Jean Pierre Bemba.
 
    A source in the Kenyan capital says that the 10 presidents had confirmed their attendance. This was later confirmed an official of the United Nations office for Great Lake Region Pr.George Ola-Davies.
 
"It is only Congo Brazzaville President Denis Sessou Nguesso who has confirmed that he will not attend in person, but he would send representative of his government,"
 
   The two days summit scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday 14-12-2006   and ending on Friday 15-12-2006)  will be attended by president of Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, the   Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya (the host), Rwanda, Sudan Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
 
   The leaders are expected to sign a pact on security, stability and development in the Great Lake region.
 
    Ministers from the representative countries were to day meeting at Gigiri to work out the pact ahead of its ratification by the head of state
