Raila's Recent Visit to USA

Dear all,

I wish I could keep quite but after this article, it is just impossible not to say something.

Whether Raila knows about this or not is unclear to me. But it is apparent that some individuals are trying to carve territories around Raila thereby hurting Raila's purpose for visiting United States and other Kenyans in the diaspora.

Such people have become quick to request support from people they know can mobilize others but as soon as Raila arrives they frustrate their efforts. This hurts Raila and limits him from realizing the potentials and goals of his interactions with Kenyans in the diaspora and even meeting the friends of these people who could have interest in Kenyan development.

It is very unfortunate that a lot of Raila supporters have taken the opportunity of his comming to United States to popularize themselves and their businesses to Raila and not popularizing Raila to the people.

Raila is a public figure, a future president of Kenya. When he comes to USA he is not an individuals friend any more. He is no ones personal property. He is not an individual’s friendly visit anymore. We wouldn't bother you if Raila came to visit you as a private citizen. Raila is a Kenyan dignitary and all Kenyans and for that matter Africans who work hard to convince skeptics about his character must be treated with dignity and as equals.

Creating fences, being territorial and pocketing Raila only hurts Raila's candidacy. It is also important that Raila recognize these protective behaviours that some people display around him.

I have realised that such people do not care about Raila's success. In fact they are not even worried if Raila just had them only as his audience. They fail to pupalarize Raila and are very careless about how they address others.

They are very arrogant in their interactions and sometimes honest and humble Kenyans begin to wonder why they got involved in the first place. As long as they are there with Raila and themselves alone in the room, such individuals would be very happy.

Raila has become bigger than this niching behavior. Such behaviour is what has led others to believe that when Raila come to USA then he has come for the Luos.

Whoever you guys are. Please stop this. You are spoiling for us who want to see a true leader lead Kenya. Stop your sycophancy behaviour and start selling Raila to others to get the votes and the money.

Your vote only, your money only and your sycophancy will not see Raila into State house. This is a group effort and all of you better know that. If you cause Raila this chance, we will hold you responsible. Stop irresponsible, arrogant languages and behaviour.

Raila needs all the help he can get from all Kenyans in the diaspora and other sympathizers in the world. You cannot do it alone.

Barack Abonyo
