Kenyan Politics is infiltrated by shameless opportunists.
Scheming for power, or appointments or seeking electoral positions to tap on the lucrative allowances has became the game of the day. It seems all the aspirants, their supporters and the incumbent Kibaki's government appointees are all opportunists. There is lack of evidence of substance for any significant compassion for the plight of Kenyas poor in the agenda of our current politicians.

Kibaki and allies are mass looting the public resources before his term ends and positioning his ethnic group at all strategic government lucrative positions, in public sector while they buy out most of the private sector with looted funds.

Baba Moi, Proffesor of politics and disorganizer, is smartly dangling his nyayo boys as the alternative option for Presidency (Kalonzo, Rutu, Mudavadi, Uhuru, Saitoti, Balala).

ODMK is airborne, being taken to political intensive care unit in London. The syndrome of thirst for power and corruption has infected the Party. History is repeating itself. You may remember how the same syndrome infected the original FORD and split it into 3 parts( Ford-K,Ford-Asili and Ford-People), after some leaders visited London. The diagnostics is the same on ODMK.

And so it is political business as usual. Musila and Kamotho are set to take over ODMK. Kosgey and Prof Nyang' have no assurance for their positions. The total man "Biwot" is lamenting that the Kalinjin are being marginalized and may opt for Majimbosm soon. In Narc-K, Saitoti and Kituyi are drawing swords, set for the mother of all battles for the party leadership. Mama Ngilu is now in the presidential race, facing Dr Julia Ojiambo for women votes. Ford-K and his Kombo (sometimes it is the other way around) is watching the unfolding scenario, waiting to follow the Ugali. Jirongo and Shitunda are forming alliance in KADDU, to have some bargaining chips.

Pastor Pius Muiru, claim to have a vision from God to run for Presidency while Bishop Dr Wanjuru wants to face out with Kamanada in Stahere in the coming general elections on ODMK ticket.

Kenya may go down in History as a failed democracy, felled by a bunch of political gamblers greedily disintegrating it, like hyenas devouring a carcass. God have mercy on the impoverished Kenyans, they can not bear these wealthy, corrupt hyenas any more.

There is hope, albeit small. The Luo Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley and Coastal Provinces are the deciding factor way forward. The four provinces embracing the reintroduction of Majimbo constitution will see them reclaim their lost resources from the hyenas and get back some dignified livelihood. But only if it is done before this coming election of 2007.
