Hello Fellers,

It is getting forever clearer to us what ODM-K stands for to the "O" community. ODM-K is at all lengths synonymous with Raila-K, and I bet you will not have it any other way. If your man is defeated--please forgive my heretical pessimism -- I predict that the Luo will pick up and set camp elsewhere. But at any rate I agree with this fanatism.

Kenya as I see it is not very much different from other developed democracies, eg, US or UK. The only difference that exists is the fact that we do not have a clear understanding of what motivates us. We haven’t defined or packaged our mainstream ideologies clear enough -- if we did, the political landscape would be a simple dichotomy. That is, we are not unlike the U.K with their Labour vs. Tories, or the US with the Republicans vs Democrats. Traditionally, Kenyan politics are divided into what can be seen as the Western ideology (read Reformist) which is heavily borrowed from Luo thinkers and Central ideology (read Conservatives) which is championed by the Kikuyu.

The Reformists believe the system is defective and seek to transform society en masse with ideology--and they can be dangerous experimentalists--while the Conservatives who represent the monied and the propertied (or if you will the petit bourgeous) work to protect and multiply their wealth--indeed, they desist the opposite ideology as it entails experimenting on what they consider to be their wealth. But the Reformists having nothing to lose have no reason to bridle their passion; the conservatives naturally guard themselves from this political bungee-jumping.

In simple terms, Kenya's wealth is heavily concentrated in two region--and these regions do not include Luoland. By hard economic statistics, the Rift Valley and the Central Province are Kenya's economic backbone. While a valid argument can be made of disparity in national investments in these regions, unarguably disparities are driven by opportunity, i.e, it doesn't matter how much Revenue we direct to Northeastern because the place is a goddamn barren desert! Luoland is only a few inches removed from that reality. But of course the guys on National welfare complains the loudest. So Luos humble yourself and remove your hat every time you see a Rift Valleyan or a Centralian--say thank you.

joe Ngatia.
