Re: Comparing notes

Today,I found myself in the world of the past.I did not have much time to dwell there. But before I took off as fast as my legs would carry me, I made a quick decision to compare and contrast notes with the present. I was amused to note how some things have changed while others have remained the same to the disappointment of all those concerned.

Here is what I found out in the area of marriage:

1. At the time I was growing up, teachers were on top of the world as candidates for future wives. To marry a teacher then, was the best thing any man would do. I hardly hear such talk, well at least in the States. I wonder what happened.

2. At the time I became of age and started the search for my sweet heart, nurses were despised by many. Not that many men were interested in marrying nurses. Today, a good number of men want to marry a nurse, and more specifically an RN nurse. Why the change?

3. When I became a pastor, I found out to my great concern that a pastor was at the bottom of the list of men that women wanted to marry. Many years later, things have gone from worse to worst. No lady wants a pastor for a husband. If such be the case, then pastors might find their joy in heeding the apostle Paul's call. He wrote,"If possible, let all the un-married " become like me."

Just a thought.
