Re: Miguna in Political Deep waters

Billy,

Since the word "Tosha" entered into the Kenyan political lexicon, it has become the most over-used phrase. It has become almost a requirement and a sign of sophistication in any Kenyan political commentary.

If supporting Miguna for the MP of Nyando is what you meant in your presumptuous and unneccesary drama when you declared that "whomever declared Miguna Tosha", have made a fatal political mistep", then, YEESSS, I am one of those who support Miguna for his candidacy for the MP of Nyando.

Now, since I am those you intended to impart upon your high-handed, unsolicited, and clearly over-the-top political advise , I would like to ask you just one simple question. Where and when did you get this political "bilo" or "wisdom" that has suddenly endowed upon you the extraordinary powers to warrant such an audacious statement. I will rule out "bilo" and wisdom for now. I will also rule out logic and reasoning because those two requires a process and I am sure you would have walked us through that process if you in fact went through that route to arrive at these rather absurd conclusions. The only reasonably explanation for your verbal diatribe against Miguna and his supporters can only be arrogance and an over blown sense of self importance that is completely mindboggling. It is simply amazing how you accuse Miguna of arrogance, then you make the "mother of all arrogant statements" in the same sentence.

Billy, Miguna is running for the MP of Nyando and he is not asking for your vote but the vote of Nyando People and not your acceptance and friendship. Nyando people will base their decision on how Miguna can handle the issues affecting Nyando and not on the "humility" nonsense that you are trying to impose upon the people of Nyando as a barometer for choosing their MP. Nyando needs an MP to fight for their rights, represent them in the parliament and to give them a voice and are not "Mr. Congeniality" as defined by one Billy Ouko.

The MP for Nyando is not a "Mr Congeniality" contest and if you were not shrouded with a chimerical aura of "contrived political wisdom", it may have occurred to you that the same "attitude" that you accuse Miguna of, may be exactly what Nyando people need in their MP.

Between you and me, Miguna is one of the most congenial people you have ever met. However, I support him for the MP of Nyando not because of his congenial nature but for the other qualities that I believe are more important in an MP for Nyando.

I support Miguna because of his uncompromising total dedication and his promise to fealessly fight for Nyando and give Nyando a voice in the august house once again since Midika. I believe that with Miguna as the MP of Nyando, the people of Nyando will have a big megaphone, the kind of Megaphone that money cannot buy. For example, the floods in Nyando has been going on for years and many people have died, been dislocated, and it has created untold suffering to the people and a lifestyle that is unacceptable. I believe that Nyando cannot afford to have a spineless, meek leader and that is why I support Miguna over the current MP. I do have alot of respect for Nyando people who have endorsed other candidates and that is what democracy is all about. Feel free to support any of the other candidates without insulting those of us who disagree with you and you will never hear from me.

Last but not least. Miguna knows how to talk to the voters of Nyando. He grew up in the village and knows how to talk to his mothers, fathers, his brothers, his sisters, his uncles-his people. To him they are not mere "grassroots" as you so snobishly refer to them. He has been talking to them all his life and he will campaign by talking to them the same way he has been doing all his life. The people also know him. You may think Miguna is "arrogant" but most of us know him as "thuon".

Miguna's people know about his struggles and his politics long before you heard of Miguna Miguna. You may have just known him put the "grassroots" that you talk about has known him for a long time and to them he did not just appear from nowhere. His ability to fight back has served him well in his struggles and achievements. I believe that it is time that the people of Nyando also benefit from these qualities that has served him so well in his life. For you to think that Miguna does not know how to talk his people and needs your advice is nothing but "wang teko" that you need to cut back on a little bit.

You may not like the way Miguna handled Manganga but that is your personal opinion and not the "universal opinion". Personally, I think he handled Manganga very well because that is how you deal with people who attack your integrity without any provocation whatsoever. Just because someone is running for office should not make him a political punching bag for any political gunslinger in this wild west called cyberspace.
