Re: On his own; Reaally?

In today's Nation, Raila Odinga is being depicted as a man under siege. And this is simply because he said in Kisii that it is him against Kibaki in the December race.

I bet Raila is not the first to say so.

Kalonzo Musyoka has been saying the same thing for along time. He has even said that if it is not him, then it will be Kibaki. We never raised eyebrows, and the Nation did not give it front page coverage.

William Ruto has always said that it is him. So what becomes strange when Raila says what others have always said before him? And why should the Nation blow this out of proportion?

When Raila said that it is likely him against Kibaki, he put in a caveat; he will support the winning candidate in the ODM primaries. But Kalonzo and some of his supporters have always maintained that if Kalonzo does not win the nominations, then they, meaning the Kambas, will support and vote for Kibaki.

Is this the kind of democracy we profess?

Time has come, and the Luo have proved it before, that we are very democratic. We vote with our team. If it be Kalonzo, Ruto, Mudavadi, Uhuru, Raila, or Balala, Ojiambo or Nazlin, we will vote for the ODM-K candidate.

The other candidates MUST also support Raila if he wins the nominations. That's what democracy is all about.
