Re: The Independent State of Somaliland

Mr. Owino

That is very great. In fact what I am thinking personally of what a nation my mother land Kenya should be is far much bigger than a small Somaliland. In fact Kenya has potential far much better than even south Korea or to be exact even Switzerland. I do not wholly blame our leaders for our misfortunes, but I do think that there are some sort of cultural background or upbringings which are holding Africa to his knees. Even Europe had dictators, some far much worse, think about the Roman Empire etc. But it was the Romans who ended up building the first town`s and rural areas drainage system on earth. And when was that ?. In fact it is almost now over 100s of years since they did that. Go to African cities, in fact you do not have to go far, go to Nairobi area and see with your own eyes how people are still living. Look at even the HIV/AIDS events in Kenya right now. I still think that the division of Africa during colonialism had some economic effect on the growth and development but not 100% responsible for our suffering, but further division of Kenya will be catastrophic.

What I know is that we may be different in ideology but we are united in dreams of what our nation needs and what our nation should be. I do not think you want to make a King out of a small nation?, neither do I. Kenya is a very big symbol to the human race, since it is in Kenya where the first human ape originated from and it is our responsibility to keep it a one nation state. After all, look around you all the great nations even super powers are a collection of different cultures, even the great economical super powers. What i know is that inventions, innovations, discoveries can happen even under a dictator. Because most of the world discoveries were made during dictators, what i do not still understand is one, why doesn`t it happen in Africa?. Why is our railway system still a one way rail? even if people know very well that trains needs to go in different directions when traveling from town A to town B and back. Do we have to blame Kibaki, Moi or Kenyatta for this also?. Believe me or not we Luos need all the other tribes in kenya just as they need us. Have you ever heard of the richness in Diversity of a difference?. I hope you are with me, just as I said first we differ in Ideology but united in dreams.

Paul Nyandoto.
