LET KENYA GO MAJIMBO:

From: William ODuor.

So the debates goes thus.....Ooh Majimbo is not good, oooh Majimbo italeta ukabila, oooh Majimbo haiwezakani Kenya.......Kenya because it will do bla bla and bla. The debate has completely failed to die and I dont see it dying because of economical and political marginalisation perfected by the current regime. This country called Kenya has gone haywire. I am buffled and in great wave of dissapointed that this country after four decades of independence is still unable to change leaders capable of delivering the Kenyan dream .

It is a pity that we still rely on ''oldguards'' formerly the sons of colonial masters or colonial ''yes men'' to lead us to the promised land.

Having tremendously benefitted from the blank cheque they inherited from John bull, these Uncle Tom oldies have got no interest of young fishermen in my Lolwe backyard. They simply dont care because they are wallowing in green money in a territory where people die of hunger in broad daylight. They enjoy watching primetime video clips showing how they have sucked-dry and rendered powerless 60 pecent of the Kenyan population. This is just unbelievable but it is a reality in Kenya...thanks to a unitary system of government.

Those who were in central positions during independence are still the ones malingering the corridors of state house offering their unhelpful advice. These are not the right group of people to rely on when discussing the merit and demerits Majimbo system of governance. These group will always tell you how Majimbo will divide the country.

Let me just focus on the main arguments. That Majimbo will break up Kenya, and tribalism will rise up. Let me say something my firends, the best example was the Spanish or the US Civil War, but then look at these countries now? what do you think?? Surely when we Majimbonize, we won’t have to go through what those countries went through; rather we shall learn from them what lessons they got from their civil war. As for those who argue that tribalism will take over, come on, this isn’t exclusive to a majimbo system; after all, the unitary system hasn’t stopped tribalism from proliferating. If you ask me ten times, I will give you the same answer ten times; that Majimbo is the best for Kenya. Majimbo system will free our various Jimbos from the cruel bondage of Imperial Nairobi.

I still remember a time when I wanted to register my business, I had to travel 350 kilometres away to Nairobi in order to fill the forms. It just doesn't make both common and economic sense to travel all the way from my Lolwe backyard to Nairobi to register a business, and don't forget that once the business is established Imperialism Nairobi will still receive your money in form of tax.

When you see Kenya today, you can not fail to realise the fact that the country has a very disproportionate growth level unimaginable in a country that craves to be like singapore in 2020.

Another argument why Kenya should not majimbonize is because some people think that Kenyans are still very politically immature or not cohessine enough. Now that is a very valid argument and it comes at a time when Iraqis just got their first taste of democracy. Even numbskulls cant buy such utter lies spread by the worst tribalists I am yet to encounter. Kenyans have been in a ''democracy, peace love unity'' for decades, yet after all these years under democracy, we are still politically immature. If you believe in that argument, then we can only blame our unitary system of governance for it has only made Kenyans politically immature.

So when will we ever become politically mature? Only when we throw out this dilapidated unitary or central system and Majimbonize ASAP! When do we do this, NOW!!! a great deal to ourselves and the comming generation, be able to think on our own, tap and develop natural resources that every Jimbo has. We will be saying a big no to tribalists who have all along been hiding behind a firewall of unitary system to suck dry other regions out of development.

Another argument against a federal system is that it is impractical and that it is not beneficial and not necessary. What is it that is impractical about Majimbo that is not known? So we advance a narrow view that other tribes will be asked to vacate other regions. This is nonsence as all Kenyans are very much aware that this is a nation and that all Kenyans have got a right to live whenever they want to. But the problem in Kenya is that some group of people have decided not to cohabitate peacefully with other Kenyans. To these people, I can only tell them that Majimbo will help them liberate their regions so that they can also reciprocate what others have done to them in four decates of unitary system.

Som also advance an opinion that some regions won't be able to cope with others in a Majimbo system of governance. That these regions won't survive under a Majimbo system etc. It saddens me to learn that for many years, these greedy tribalists are yet to realise that no amount of lies will deter people change their mind about Majimbo. Majimbo is the only key strategy in sensitizing and mobilising the people respond to their local needs.

In Kenya today, there exist a big gap between the governor and the governed. A Majimbo system no doubt brings the government closer to the people and when that happens, more taxes will be collected in the regions as the residents will be paying their taxes to their respective regions and spending these for themselves.

Then there is the problem of pesa, pesa....pesa.. that we cannot afford to fund Majimbo yet we fail to notice how much money we have sunk into white elephants, Anglo, and Golden bergs for four strong decades. We have built dams in areas where the rain pattern is well known and thoroughly documented.Well, admittedly, this unitary system of government is so cash-strapped; the problems have trickled down to the poorest regions which end up being further neglected.

Do you still remember district focus for rural development. How much money did the unitary government used to initiate such programs and how many billions entered our economy and helped our brutonationalprodukt?.These are just shelves of documentation about failures of a unitary government yet we still go the wrong way year after year.

How far do we go this path? When will we know that unitary government-owned and controlled corporations are costing the country billions annually to run. Why, because these are strategic reserves for corruption and stabilising ground for politics of tribalism. Is it just OK that in a unitary or centrist government, we can throw away billions annually, yet we can’t afford hundreds of millions to shift our nation toward a better system of governance?. No wonder, nothing works in this country!
