Re: Memories of sweet home

Yesterday, Saturday, June 16,2007, was a very good day for me. I attended a camp meeting at Hutchinson for the first time since coming to Minnesota.

The trip was so refreshing that I felt like going on and on. But I had to stop at Hutchinson for the camp meeting.Once at Hutchinson,
1. I met so many of my brothers and sisters, some that I had not seen for some time. We just sat there eating and reflecting on the past.
2. Was glad to see Dr Dwight Nelson, who was my pastor at Andrews for a period of 10 years and Dr Ken who was a fellow seminarian and now a professor at Andrews. I also saw my friend Tom Ogwang and took time to reflect on the challenging years at Andrews.
4. I met friends from Kenya whom I did not even know that they were in Minnesota and took time to reflect on life back home.
5.I met former church members from Kenya and Minnetonka and took time to reflect on the years I was their pastor.

I just did not want to leave Hutchinson.

From Hutchinson, I made my way to the Edge christian center, for the fund raiser of the late brother Andrew obiri. There too I met so many friends and was so excited to see each one of them.

I returned home so thankful for the old memories and for the opportunity to connect with my brothers and sisters.

The Bible tells us that one day this world will come to an end and that the good Lord will come and take His children to a home that He has prepared for them. Of all that we have been told about the earth made new, I still can not comprehend how beautiful heaven will be like.

If anything, the Hutchinson trip and the gathering at the Edge reminded me of the joy that the saved will have just to sit and reflect on their experience on earth and live together for ever.

So my dear brothers and sisters though the journey home is full of challenges, let us pray for one another so that we may all meet there.

Yes indeed, I enjoyed reflecting on sweet home but look forward to another home which no doubt will be by far better than what our eyes have seen and our ears have heard. Do you want to be there?

Just a thought.

Your brother & fellow traveler,
