Kalonzo calls for negotiations with Mungiki to end killings is misguided

Can somebody tell me why Kalonzo is suggesting that the government should negotiate with Mungiki. And if they were to negotiate, what will be the negotiation grounds. In other words what does Mungiki want that the government should give them as a token so that they stop tormenting innocent Wanainchi.

I believe Kalonzo showed some immaturity as a presidential candidate. Probably he doesn’t understand Mungiki and what Mungki is for. Mungiki is not fighting for freedom of speech or association they are fighting for a right to terrorize a common man. They force matatu operators to give them money they have not worked for. They charge levees or fee that should only be given to the government for provision of services and they rob others of their money when everything fails.

Negotiating with Mungiki is the beginning of allowing war loadism or terrorism in Kenya. I was in the University where riots were common. I know the power with which the government quelled such riots. I was there when we took to the streets after Ouko murder and I saw what happened when the government wanted to silence people. I do not believe Mungiki followers out number the university students neither do I believe Mungiki is stronger than the government of Kenya to force negotiations. If so then what would happen if another country attack us. Will we be able to protect ourselves. If only the government decided to nip Mungiki on the bud on time, we would have not had this situation.

The reason why Mungiki has survived for this long is because they have sympathizers within the government. Mungiki is a kikuyu organization that have occasionally openly campaigned for or with some Kikuyu MPS. The solution to the Mungiki problem is therefore simple. Arrest all those who have associated themselves with Mungiki in one way or another because they are the same people who are funding Mungiki. Mungiki would not survive without money. It is the money that is buying the guns.

It is no secret that Mungiki activities is an initial steps towards eliminating opposition figures and since they have to start somewhere, they have to start by creating chaos as the government watch helplessly. Instead of Kalonzo suggesting negotiations, he should chastise a government that has shortchanged protection of its people with supporting Mungiki's activities to help a few mps regain their seats. Kalonzo must become seasoned in politics, learn his facts before he suggests such outrageous proposals.
