Ruto - State house visit (Abunuwasi)

forwarded by Nicholas Mireri et.al.

Abunuwasi Comments and opinion

The fact that Ruto was in State House is a known rumour, whose verification in fact cannot be done in a court of law.

In fact though The Nairobi Star does not get into details a helicopter dispatched by the State was used to ferry Ruto from the historic Kapkatet grounds and directly to State House on the day that he was endorsed as the single spokesman for the Kalenjin within ODM-K.

On the same day, Raila was in Rift-Valley for his campaigns but in a different venue from where the Kalenjin MPs had met.

Before the State House visit Moi had met Ruto and demanded a repayment of a loan valued at 1.2 Billion shillings or a withdrwal from ODM-kenya presidential ambitions.

Therefore it follows, Moi hinted to State House about the deal and so as to appear independent from Moi, State House offered him the Military Life Insurance deal (Please note, not Military Vehicles as reported by the Nairobi Star) the insurance for military men is a new policy which has been introduced in this year's budget and it is valued at Shs.400m (Not 500m) according to the budget estimates.

It is imperative to note that tailoring and supply of Military uniforms is an award that has been exclusively awarded to Kittony (The husband to Zipporah Kittony formely of Maendeleo ya Wanawake) the contract has a life of 15 years. Kittony, is the Chairman of Kiss 100, Classic FM and Nairobi Star - and he has about three more years to go on the contract to supply the army with uniforms. Therefore, could be privy to information on Army procurement, please remember that Kittony's brother Reuben Chesire has been the key opponent to Ruto at the parliamentary level - that explains the easy passage of the story at the editorial desk of The Nairobi Star.

In fact attribution of the story, which in this case was not done - the story reads like a personal opinion with little regard for attribution, however THE People Daily in a story authored by respected editorial genius Peter Leftie two weeks ago ran a similar story saying that Gedion Moi had pointed to a traitor within ODM-K who was according to their story based on a credible telephone interview "eating Githeri in State House after having breakfast with collegues in ODM"

It is our opinion that challenging a tabloid in a court is going to end up more damaging for Ruto as politics like in the famous Shikuku State House Ugali sessions is all about perception..challenging the facts was good enough but a court battle will only popurize the tabloid in question.

From a legal view point, Ruto is likely to win the case, since it is especially true that they have met with the executive so the ruling will be in his favour, two, even the writers know this is an impossible story to prove in court especially when they want to rely on Truth as the defence.

For instance, Kalonzo never moved to court over the Standard State House story despite no apology - even though it became clear that the meeting never took place, though it had been arranged it was cancelled before it happened. However, Nairobi Star, should also come out clear and declare itself a Daily Tabloid - for in its three days of existence it has convinced no-one with Mass Communication knowledge that it is a newspaper worth being mentioned alongside, Kenya Times, The Nation, The Standard or The People Daily.

Great design, photographs but no content, it clearly a tabloid addressed for the Class A market and few in the lower classes except those who love celebrity gossip would spend on the paper after the first day hype.

There is definately space for tabloids, but let Tabloids say they are tabloids from the beginning, and incidentally it is our conviction that teh time for tabloids is nigh especially now that our dailies have their house styles in favour of particular groupings and political parties.

But as we said this is just an opinion of abunuwasi.com and we are entitled to it by virtue of the supreme laws of this land and who knows maybe Ruto and The Nairobi Star have heard us and as you will see in our comments section once our readers start accessing this article we write of real pwertinent issues and perhaps we have left out many more.
