"Ditching ODMK is a political suicide" Kalonzo Musyoka's Magic word

Finally Mr Musyoka agreed with ODMK supporters and even his own supporters when he indicated that and I quote from the Nation Newspapers "Mr Musyoka dismissed the possibility of ditching ODM-K for another party saying doing so would be political suicide".

I read good riddance in this statement. Kalonzo has finally decided to listen to the voices of reason and accept the verdict of the people. Yes if Kalonzo left ODMK he will make several steps backward in his political career. For one he will have to vie for presidency on an unknown party. And like James Orengo he would slide right deep into a political limbo. The other alternative would be to join Kibaki, but like Mudavadi who went back to Moi during the second liberation he would spend possibly two election periods to come back into the limelight. Indeed the best choice for Kalonzo is to stick it in ODMK come rain or sunshine. ODMK is a house he helped build hence he must not run away from it because of small ant like issues. Kalonzo must stay in ODMK to survive.

From this statement from Kalonzo, I see the star of ODMK shinning again. Kalonzo has read the tides and is willing to ride in its direction. Indeed I believe that it is not going to be long before Kalonzo declare Odinga Tosha. He is willing very close to accepting Raila Odinga's nomination as the ODMK presidential candidate. However, there is only one catch for the Odinga camp. They must maintain respect for this great son of Akamba. Kalonzo is bringing back the Akamba and other votes into the ODMK fold. Please control antagonistic and chauvinistic statements. The Odinga camp must not behave like a favored child flashing a toy on the face of the unfavored one.

Once you defeat your competitor don’t stand over him telling him our great and big you are. Such statements may reinvigorate his ego. We see this in boxing all the time. Once Johnson, the first African American boxer was knocked down by a white competitor. The white competitor went celebrating before Johnson was counted out. In those days you could not knock someone down by just knocking them down. They had to remain on the ground. The amazing thing was that Johnson managed to gather some strength and he stood up. Rumor has it that he punched the white man so hard that the white man's teeth had to be combed off his gloves. And the moral of the story is that Kalonzo is accepting the verdict of the people. Do not wake him up by unnecessary statements in public.

We are now ready to kick Kibaki's tribalism, terrorism and corruption out of state house. Let that be the course to be maintained.

Barack Abonyo
