RE: Raila Odinga can be compared to Jesus?

Yes Raila is an individual but he also happens to be an enigmatic politician. He is only second to Moi in political prowess. That said, I will like to add that it is within my domain as a citizen to openly criticize any politician. No politician should be treated as a sacred cow. That is what democracy is all about.

That is exactly what I tried to bring up. Raila was placing himself in the same class as Jesus when he said that he can be compared with among others Jesus Christ. I think he overreached. A man who has in the past been involved in orgies of violence cannot claim to be in the class of Jesus.

I have received an number of hate mail from Raila fanatics. Some of them were defending his use of violence saying that even Jesus used violence on the people who had turned the Temple of Jerusalem into a market. One has to be brainwashed to equate Raila's violence -on those opposed to him- with Jesus' reaction in the temple.

Democracy is when you let others air their views without fear of being stoned. Raila speaks of democracy but his treatment of those refusing to play his brand of politics speaks volumes of the man slated to be our 4th president. One cannot cry foul when his democratic rights are being abused while he uses violence as a means of debate. My fear is that Raila may drive us back into the Nyayo era claiming that he is the way and the light and anybody opposing him is acting against the righteous way. And this is how dictators are made.
