Gor Mahia FC - Diaspora Fun club

Wapenda Kandanda Wenzangu,

I write to those of you who appreciate and love sports, to those of you who love and cherish soccer and particularly to those of you who will close your eyes and think back at the mention of Gor Mahia FC.

Your hearts must be bleeding like mine when you read what is happening to this beloved football club. You must be lost for words when you see the once mighty Gor Mahia continually in the relegation zone these years.

Yes, time changes and every organization has its ups and downs. But this natural sequence of events is hardly what is happening to Gor Mahia. Our club came down hard and has remained down for a darn long time. Real Madrid FC has been there for more than one century but always as a top contender in La Liga. They have a glorious history as a testimony to this. Why should we let Gor Mahia a.k.a K’Ogalo a.k.a Nyam Nyam be in the doldrums for this long?

I read the words of coach Dunga after winning the Copa America a few days ago and I felt like he was talking about my people – the rank and file of Gor Mahia FC supporters in Kenya. He said “"We came to rescue the self-esteem of the Brazilian worker, who wakes up in the morning and returns home late at night, whose only satisfaction in life is seeing Brazil win a football match.". Indeed there was a time when the anticipated next win by Gor Mahia was what kept a majority of us going, when our real happiness from the heart come out only when celebrating a win by Gor Mahia. A good number of our people still yearn for this happiness.

The problems of Gor Mahia FC are diverse but can be managed to create a functioning top performing football club. It only requires all who love this club to pull together and be involved. I read the article in the link below and I said why not us?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/6902781.stm

Those of us in the Diaspora are many and have what it takes to run any organization. If we collectively pull together in the commitment to support Gor Mahia we can help steer this club to success.

I want to propose that we form a Gor Mahia FC Diaspora Fan Club. That we come together and help chart a course of success for our beloved club.

If you feel the same please send me your contacts (email address, phone number and a physical address) to jakanyongo@yahoo.com.

Kindly distribute this appeal far and wide.

Thanks
-Oyuga Ojuok-
