MBITA VOTERS NOW THREATEN DEMO AGAINST MP

BY       JEFF OTIENO

Constituents of Mbita are up in arms with their legislator Gerald Otieno Kajwang and are threatening a massive demonstration if he continues with his latest brand of Politics to smear and ridicule his perceived formidable political rivals.

The stern warning was issued by a group of Mbita elders and professionals residing in Kisumu who were reacting to recent press reports attributed to one of the rivals that he was sneaked recently to state house by Foreign Affairs Minister Raphael Tuju to meet President Mwai Kibaki with a view of getting the government support to unseat the MP.

Two months ago, the MP who is a gifted Propagandist, unleashed another onslaught which alleged that the said rival, who is senior civil servant, who has yet to officially resign or declare interest, had been prevailed upon by the elders to step down for the beleaguered MP to the chagrin of the voters who have vowed to curtail his third term bid.

During a brief interview with this journalist, Foreign Affairs Minster Rapahel Tuju dismissed the report as cheap and hollow. The minister, who is also the Rarieda MP urged the Community leaders to concentrate on serving the electorates instead of engaging in retrogressive politics.

A fortnight ago, during Nyanza stake holders meeting in Tom Mboya Labour College, the MP's (Kajwang) frustrations came to the fore when he rose to speak.

His usual trademark Oratory prowess to send the crowd wild apparently eluded him. To the chagrin of the attentive audience, he narrowed his speech to his woos in Mbita, thundering that the parliamentary hopefuls should give them room to tackle national battles.

Dogged with constituency development funds (C.D.F) misuse, the MP will only require divine intervention to retain his seat in the forth coming General Elections which is around the corner.

Kajwang is among a bunch of Luo MPs who have mastered the art of clinging on Raila Odinga Political coat for survival but this time round their gimmicks appears exposed and is headed to hit the rocks.

Others who believe they are close , untouchable and dangle the lock and key of Raila Odinga are Nyakach MP Peter Odoyo, Prof. Ayiecho Olweny of Muhoroni and Karachuonyo MP. Adhu Awiti.

Meanwhile, a senior Nairobi University Lecture in-charge of Africa Centre for International University Cambridge Distance Learning Programme, Israel Kodiaga has declared his interest in Kisumu Town west Parliamentary race currently under the tutelage of Rev. Ken Nyagudi.

Kodiaga, who is credited for the agitation of Political pluralism, made the disclosure over the weekend during a development inspection tour of the constituency.

He is slated to battle it out with influential Kisumu Advocate John Olago Aluoch, incumbent MP Ken Nyagudi, leading Kisumu City surgeon Dr. James Otieno Obondi and Lawyer Juliet Ogejo in what keen political pundits have described as a battle of titans.

END.
