KENYAN ARRESTED AFTER GIVING WATER TO A NEIGHBOUR'S CHILD,

CARY/NORTH CAROLINA

Mr. Michael Kariuki was watching his youngest daughter Gathoni (5yrs) play with other kids from the neighborhood outside their apartment complex on a hot Saturday afternoon two weeks ago. One of the boys (8yrs) who was playing with his daughter came to him and asked if he could get a glass of water to drink. Mr. Kariuki responded like any other responsible parent and set out to get water for the boy. Since he wanted to walk to a nearby Food Lion to get some groceries, he invited his daughter and the boy to come along so that he could buy them water. His daughter wanted to go back to the house but the boy was excited to walk with Mr. Kariuki. Mr. Kariuki took his daughter back to the house and left her under the care of his wife and older daughter and walked to Food Lion accompanied y the boy.

Meanwhile the boy?s parent started looking for him and when they could not find him they called the police and alleged that he had been kidnapped. The police arrived the same time the boy came back home but at that time Mr. Kariuki was leaving his apartment to visit a relative accompanied by his daughter Gathoni thus the police did not find him at his apartment. The police left a massage with Mr. Kariuki?s wife to present himself and answer to the kidnapping allegations. Mr. Kariuki reported to the police station the following day and was arrested and charged with kidnapping and neglecting his daughter. Those of us who know Kariuki will attest that he is anything else BUT a kidnapper.

Mr. Kariuki is to this day languishing in police custody charged with this capital offence, Bill for his release was set at $ 105.000. The family has consulted a lawyer who has suggested that he can plead with a judge for bail to be reduced. To retain the lawyer for entire case.

The family is appealing to the Kenyan Community and well wishers to assist in getting Mr. Kariuki a lawyer and raise the amount for bond.

A prayer session/Harambee has been organized for Saturday 9/15/07 starting at 5.00PM @ at the NORTH CARY BAPTIST CHURCH located at REEDY CREEK ROAD  CARY, NC 27513, You are kindly invited to join the family in prayers asking God's intervention in this matter and beyond and in assisting the Family.
