re: Nyatike Constituency Opinion Pole as at 30 September 2007

Dear Colleagues,

It is really interesting the dimension things have taken in the near past and currently. As of now I wish to commend the initiative to have this proposed poll result posted so as to have some insight as to what people from Nyatike think of the political situation as per the candidates who have come forward to contest the seat due to fall vacant in the very near future. All these mean there are people who would wish well for our region - Nyatike.

Having said so, may I just ask the core value for such a pole considering that a majority of our voters have no access to such a forum and will not have the opportunity to do so in this initiative.

I happen to be one among the few lucky ones to have access to this and I would therefore like to know whether a feasibility study was carried out prior to launching of this "project" just to determine HOW many voters would be able to vote as to give a realistic reflection on the situation on the ground. Take the marginalized areas like the one I happen, by God's will, to come from - KALER LOCATION. There could be approximately less than 0.5% who would be able to take part in this exercise. Does it then mean these people shall remain marginalized throughout in all areas?

As the clamor for the august house heats up, there are so far very few aspirants who have taken their time to visit the area on matters development. Most of those who visit this area only do so to attend funerals after which they forget the region in toto.

I think it is the right time politicians realized leadership is for the benefit of all and sundry but not for a few chosen subjects in the name of nepotism as is the case right now.

I speak with a lot of bitterness because some of us have been taken for a ride for so long and I can see the trend continuing going by the way things are right now as people go about campaigning.

Please let us wake up and embrace togetherness for the well-being of our people. Stop living in denial, and let us stop preaching water as we drink wine. As much as we realize that we dearly and urgently need generational change, let us realize that WACHO GI TIMO OPOGORE. We could be saying good things but our deeds totally different. As they say: You can cheat some people but you cannot cheat everyone, you can cheat once but you cannot cheat always. Let us come out of the old systems of duping people to vote us in but latter turning out to be bosses and not leaders.

REMEMBER ONE DAY THEY SHALL GET BRIGHTER AND THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.
