Re: Learning & adapting a new culture!

Whenever anyone moves to another country, there is need to learn about the new culture so as to fit into that community. That said, the big question remains "How much of a new culture should one adapt?" Let me explain.

Since coming to this great Nation,I have learned and adapted part of their way of doing things. Here are some of them:

1. I love their concept of keeping time and wish that everybody will learn to keep time.
2.I love their concept of saving for retirement.
3.I love their respect for the law of the land.
4.I love their democracy. 5-10 years for the top seat and you are out.How I wish our people can borrow a leaf!

I find the following very interesting:

1.This is -----,my mother's boy friend.
2.This is-----my step father.
3.This is my adopted son.
4.These are my wives' children.

And here are my two questions:

1.If I have adopted children, at what time should I tell them who the real parents are and is it neccessary?
2.If my son/daughter is in a boarding school, should I allow him to come home with a boy friend/girl friend?
3.If I am introducing my adopted children, should I introduce them as my adopted children?

I know that each one of us has got his or her own observations. And the question is "How far can we go?

Just a thought.
