PAN-AFRICANISTS POLITICAL PARTIES HAD A TWO DAYS MEETING IN KAMPALA.

The information emerging out of the Ugandan Capital, Kampala say that two arch- rival political parties have hatched their wrangling and agreed to sponsor a conference of the continent Pan - Africanists.
 
The Democratic Party (DP) and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) have put aside their recent buckering and agreed to jointly host a continental conference.
 
The two day Democratic Union of Africa meeting of political parties with centre-right political ideologies opened last Saturday at the Imperial Beach Resort Hotel in Entebbe.
 
It brought together Pan-African political parties that believe in leaner governance, lower taxation and free and fairer International trade.
 
At a joint press conference held a day ahead before the conference opened at Kampala Speke Hotel the FDC Vice-President Salaam Musumba and DP Secretary General Dr. Luluma Bayige said the parties were to examine ways of building on their potential.
 
‘’The participants will debate and discuss critical issues affecting Africa and consider the progress made since independence in the early 1960s.
 
These will include creating an economic framework for success, delivering affordable and effective health care and education, and defeating corruption’’
 
Musumba said both FDC and DP subscribe to the establishment of lean government, reduction of taxation so that working capital is freed, and the creation of an environment under which free and fair international trade can flourish.
 
She severely criticized the ruling National Resistance Movement for failing to espouse any serious ideology and for encouraging a large number of Resident District Commissioners (RDC) and Presidential advisors. The attack came hardly the day after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had just appointed new RDCs country wide.
