Dear Kenyan Voters

I would like to learn what Kenyans think of the trend where public offices are becoming the reserve of certain families. Are Kenyans voting on quality of leaders or are family titles more important. Will reserving seats for families help improve this country? Aren’t we just worshiping the wealth of these families and giving them the chance to protect what they have? I would like Kenyans to explore this agenda with a very open mind.

If you can, please add to the details below

  1. Moi Family – Old man left for son Gideon. Jonathan also wants to be an MP
  2. Kenyata – Uhuru took over father’s seat. Other family members like Peter Muigai and Ngengi Muigai have also been occupants of the seat. Are we saying leadership genes are unique to this family?
  3. Odinga Family – Raila odinga, Oburu Odinga. Both riding on the family name. A number of Luo nyanza MP’s said to be cousins and family members.
  4. Mudavadi – Son took seat formerly held by father. This was straight from college yet the man had not yet displayed any qualities unless leadership qualities are inherited. Can a person from Nyanza elaborate on the details of the family seats in Nyanza?
  5. Nyaga Family – Norman Nyaga took over from the father and then later launched himself to Kamukunji courtesy of DP which was owned by his father’s buddies. Joseph Nyaga later took the seat. Are leadership qualities in Mbeere only confined to this family?
  6. The Mwendwas – Several family members have been occupying that seat. Can no other person lead this area or have the Mwendwa’s family made it a family seat. Kaluki Ngilu is also said to be related to the same family (can someone confirm)
  7. Nick Salat – Occupies the seat the father once held (can someone confirm)
  8. Mirugi Kariuki – son seat took seat after father died. What leadership qualities did the man have in order to qualify for this seat?
  9. Jane Kihara – Took seat after husband died. Talk of a case of leadership genes attracting each other so that spouses are sharing the attributes to be elected leaders.
  10. Mohamed Galgalo – Brother took seat after he died. Had he displayed any special qualifications and if so, are these unique to the family.
  11. Katana Ngala – Son took seat formerly held by father.
  12. Cecily Mbarire – Father was MP for Manyata. Implication is that she must have inherited the genes to be an MP from her father hence the current leaders had to nominate her.
  13. Hussein Sasura – Took over seat left brother Abdi Sasura
  14. Please add on.
  15. -

Others aiming seats considered family seats include

  1. The Kuguru family in Mathira, Nyeri
  2. The Wamalwa family (father was senator, son mp) -and now both brother and wife competing for the seat.
  3. Peter Ngoyoni – Wife vied for the seat after death of husband
  4. Sarah Godana – Wife vied for the seat after death of husband. Wife finally elected to EA assembly.
  5. Mulinge – Son said to be eying seat formerly held by father
  6. Moody rumored to plan retirement and leave seat to son
  7. Ouma Muga said to be eyeing seat formerly held by father
  8. Add on.

Reflect and vote wisely

Njoroge.
