Response to " memo to Raila" by John Otieno

From: Onyango JaKanam

I came across a posting on this site about a memo apparently written by the people of Mbita, and forwarded by a Mr John Otieno. the memo attempts to castigate Raila allegedly for asking one of the aspirants to stand down for Otieno Kajwang. I find the spirit of this mail self defeatist. for one, I am a voter in Mbita: when did the people of Mbita sit down to write the petition?
who is this politician who was being asked to step down? what did he go to Raila for? permission to run in Mbita? Is Raila a voter in Mbita?

Some of these aspirants should stop behaving like cry babies. instead of going to the grounds to campaign and talk to voters, they want Raila's blessings in Nairobi. The best they can do is to send their agents with bundles of money from the comfort of their public offices in Nairobi!

We need to know the name of this aspirant so that we can confirm from him if indeed Raila asked him not to run. who is he? Memos cannot be based on allegations. Money alone cannot translate into votes. aspiring politicians must engage the people, address them, run around and let be known even by the face. we need to hear directly from them. we cannot make decisions on the basis of what their cotteries say. Raila should be left out of this.

Mbita people do not want leaders who cannot account for their massive wealth. we know salaries of public servants. we also know some of the businesses some of these aspiring politician are running. It still doesnt add up. Getting panicky after years of pilferage of public resources and rubbing shoulders with corruption gurus cannot be the burden of Raila to undo.
