TIME FOR HUMILITY

Fellow Kenyans,

The time for maximum humility is now. As Hon. Odinga's supporters, we're are about to witness the change of guard at the nation's State House. A momentous thing like that calls for humilty and deep introspection. Because come January one, Kenyans will have sent the elders who've led us since independence into retirement. I call upon all of us to see their departure from the helm as a natural and desired transistion, not as a boot. And since most of them are now very elderly, let's accord them the respect they deserve. We have big enough hearts to forgive them for the ills they commited against us.

As this transition takes place, it's critical to remember that President Kibaki and President Moi still retain a sizeable segment of Kenya that looks up to them and wishes them well. Indeed, we all should since they are wazees. So, because of the respect they still command among their supporters, it's important for those of us who support Hon. Odinga to extend an olive branch to them. Let's not be too haughty about the prospect of the impending change, but be humbled by it. Because when all is said and done, the quality of the man Hon. Odinga will be percived to be will partly be a product of how his supporters will be percived.

And finally, when Mr. Odinga is elected, let there be joy and merriment around the nation, because his election will mark one of the most crucial political journeys of our time. It will mark the first time a nation attempts to heal deep tribal wounds, purposely marches into the future with the aim of making better the lives of all its citizens...and does so believing that an African nation can meet and exceed the expectations placed on it by its participation in the league of civilized nations.

So let's move forward with pride, with dignity and with unity. Because with a darling like Ida watching over the big house, how can we be afraid?
