From: Sam Oyugi

To all,

There are many fronts working for ODM to help in the match to the State House.  OMO is one of them. Keep up the good fight until Kibaki hands over power to Hon Raila after the inevitable defeat.

Welcome  ALL to OMO

Operation Mwai Out
(OMO)

Official launching, Friday 21st September 2007, Nairobi

Press Release

It is with great satisfaction that we announce the launch of Operation Mwai Out (OMO), which is a voters’ platform from the grassroots to the national level

This initiative and launch is as a result of a series of consultations among various youth & civil society organizations.

Operation Mwai Out brings together the Kenya Youth Movement, the Students’ Front for Democratic Change, Vote Bank and the Women Elite for Raila as national partners, with various community organizations and lobby groups at different levels as its networks.

The resolution to remove Kibaki from power has been necessitated by among other things;
1)      The high cost of living
2)      Failure by Kibaki to address pertinent issues and policies impacting on wananchi’s lives like a new constitution, development of the infrastructure, insecurity, high cost of doing business in the country etc
3)      The government’s 100% tolerance to corruption as evident in the grand rip-off schemes of Anglo-Leasing, and laxity in taking action against the plunderers of devolved funds like CDF& LATF
4)      Gross violation of human rights as evident in the rampant killings and arrests of innocent youth in the pretext of fighting organized crime, and harassment of Muslim youth in the name of fighting terror
5)      Failure to transparently and effectively administer the youth enterprise development fund
6)      Betrayal of Kenyans by the leader of official opposition , Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta, who has joined Moi in supporting Kibaki to protect the billions and masses of land they stole from Kenyans

Our resolve to support Raila and ODM has also been positively influenced by among other factors;
1)      Raila’s consistency in the struggle for good governance
2)      The democratic manner in which he was elected by the ODM delegates
3)      The political maturity and democratic soberness exhibited by the other ODM Pentagon members, Hons. Musalia Mudavadi, Joseph Nyagah, Najib Balala and William Ruto

Above all, Raila is reliable and trustworthy and can therefore be banked on to honor pre-election pledges and develop this country

Operation Mwai Out (OMO) will work closely with all groups supporting Hon Raila Odinga and the ODM bandwagon, and we are appealing to all individuals and groups from wherever they are to join OMO

This campaign will be issue-based, and not a platform for chaos and troubleshooting, with the core objectives of:
1)      Mobilizing the youth & the civil society to vote for Raila through rallies, forums
2)      Ensuring maximum voter turnout during the elections by organizing voters in manageable groups at the grassroots level

We are confident that Raila will win the 2007 general elections and be the country’s 4th President

Operation Mwai Out will be coordinated by the National Coordinating Committee comprising:

1)      Bonny Juma - National Coordinator         ( Chairman , Kenya Youth Movement)
2)      Hassan Ole Naado -                                   ( Chairman , Kenya Muslim Youth Alliance )
3)      Shem Sam Otoi -                                        (Chairman, Students’ Front For Democratic Change)
4)      Wilson Chepkwony Kipkirui
5)      George Nyongesa – (PRO,                      (Bunge la Mwananchi )
6)      Collins Kodhek
7)      Stella Njeri                                              (Women Elite for Raiila)
8)       Evalyne Kerubo                                               (Students’ Front For Democratic Change)
9)      Phillip Abuor

We are therefore calling on all our members to link up and establish OMO networks across the country. We shall also have working committees from the national to the grassroots level

Thank you.
