Re: On Fake MOU - Urgent Call for Real Christian Prayers ... Not These Tribal Political Prayers!

Dear Rose and All,

Thanks for the e-mail. I come from Coast Province but I'm a Pentecostal Christian of 20 years. I saw this and my heart started crying. I was shivering and full of anger and depression. I could not believe my eyes. How could such politicians be so foolish? Why would they do such a stupid and dangerous thing that may hurt Kenya?

Being a supporter of ODM-K and aware of "political internet propaganda and fake docs (e.g. remember the fake docs circulating that Kalonzo is to receive 10-B from GOVT to step down for Kibaki) and its negative use and impact, I decided to investigate the matter further by reviewing the document, what our Kenyan media reported and just search all over.

Here are my observations:
-------------------------------------

(A) If this "fake MOU" was a valid one, right now Nation, Standard, KTN, NTV would air it. In fact all of them media in Kenya have confirmed stories of this "document being a fake".

 1- http://eastandard.net/electionplatform/?id=1143977273
2- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3t8Kpzha1s
3- http://www.islamkenya.com/html/currentissue_2.html

 (B) I reviewed the document again in fine detail and came across some mistakes.

1- Is “Amen” an Islamic word? Muslims use the word “Inshallah” … not Amen! (Christian word). I know coz I schooled with them!
2- Would coast and North Eastern provinces want to be separated and then name themselves “Coast & Northeastern” regions?
3- Why would an Islamic document talk of “worshipping the cross” (which is strictly a Christian term for our Lord Jesus Christ)?
4- Muslims don’t have a “Council of Elders”. Only few tribes in Kenya do - KIKUYU (Ciama), MERU (Njuri Ceke), LUO (Ruoth).
5- Where is this Farmer’s Choice factory in North Eastern Province? My distant relative works with them and there is none
6- MOU’s are normally witnessed by lawyers (e.g. NARC one in 2002 with NAK+LDP) and have ID’#… none exist on this one
7- We live in a world of Internet identity theft which can see your legal signature stolen from visitor’s books, GOVT docs, etc
8- The ridiculousness of some of the claims just make it clear to me that this is a propaganda work of the highest order!

(C) I also got a forward listing KAMEME FM (the ethnic kikuyu radio station) still speaking of this.

I’m just wondering, have they confirmed the docs. If not, how come (unlike Nation, Standard, KTN, Citizen, CTV, etc), they’re talking of these docs and doing so in Kikuyu Language. Why should they not just call the other Media or the individuals concerned?

I have become more angry (100*) when I discovered that this is a FAKE MOU. I cannot understand why supporters of PNU would want to make such a document. Even though I'm a Pentecostal Christian of many years, I have lived well with my brothers and sisters in coast province. And to imagine that supporters of a political party (PNU) from Central Province would make such a document in the name of "gaining votes" has shocked me. I have traveled a bit and being aware of the Rwanda/Burundi genocide, I'm well aware of what ethnic related media (TV/Radio) and ethnic elites political partisanship could wreck havoc on a country.

(D) I have received another e-mail stating that this “fake MOU” may have been the work of certain individuals living abroad, who support PNU.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kenyaonline/message/111735

Is this what some of us in the Diaspora engage in? Is this not a serious lack of judgment on those of you working/living abroad?

(E) While my political sympathies lied with ODM-K and Kalonzo, I have been disgusted to witness this from PNU.

Especially since Kibaki/PNU was a possible second choice. The fact that PNU people could engage in such cheap BUT very religiously sensitive smear and fake propaganda has made me cross them out.   I would rather now vote for Raira or Pastor Muiru as a second choice. I’m sorry but I’m not about to endorse somebody (PNU/Kibaki) whose campaign preaches unity during the day but at night “creates propaganda that is religiously insensitive and Tribal”.

(F) As a Christian, I respect rights of all people - regardless of religious, political, gender, tribal or age differences.

So please, take me out of your e-mail address book. I’m not interested in receiving these e-mails with people who claim to be “saved and Christian” but can engage in such cheap shot tribal politics. I’m saddened by such behavior from the people who come from the big tribes, live abroad, grew up in urban areas, but can engage in such cheap nonsense. After all, as a Christian I’m yet to hear any person from the big tribes criticize Kibaki for recently awarding the Muslims another “Islamic Holiday”. Have I? Nope!!!

If you support Kibaki, Kalonzo or Raira, please just do so. There is no need to use religious blasphemy to win your candidate votes. I’m sorry, but I’m so angry! Of what use is there in winning using such wrong tactics. Is this not a threat to our young democracy? On Dec-28th regardless of which political persons/parties win, we should remain as Kenyan, regardless of our religions.
