ODM TREASURER FEAR FOR HIS LIFE, RECORD STATEMENT WITH POLICE

By Leo Odera Omolo

ORANGE Democratic Movement national treasurer and immediate Member of Parliament for South Mugirango, Omingo Magara has expressed fear for his life following an attacke by goons suspected to be allied to his perceived political detractors.

Magara whose car was smashed at Nyamondo area by a gang he alleged to be associated with the dreaded ‘chinkororo’ was talking to press in the front of District Investigation Office in Kisii Central, after recording a statement with the investigation officers.

The bitter looking ODM point man in Gusii land blamed Roads Minister Simeon Nyachae for the woes.

He accused Kiraka Mochama a neighbour to his driver to have plotted the scheme to attack him. Fortunately he was not in the car when the incident took place and his drver also escaped unhurt.

“This man (Kiraka Mochama)is the leader of the very gang which unleashed terror on us at Nyamarambe about two months ago as Nyachae was looking on.” he said. “A plot to eliminate me like my late brother has been hatched before the general elections.

He likened his detractors to Falicien Kabuga of Rwanda saying they could succeed in killing him , but his spirits would prevail as what he stands for is the welfare of Kenyans.

“Nyachae can succeed in killing me, with the bloody money , but my spirits will prevail” said Magara.

He said the Roads Minister was determined to contain him and get votes for Kibaki even at the expense of his life. He said the ill gotten money was bloody and could only be used to negate the needs and desire of electorate by embracing politics of vendetta.

He further took issue with a member of East Africa Legislative Assembly, Reuben Oyondi for being the patron of the banned group executing thuggery in the area against those opposed to Nyachae’s political school of thought.

He warned of the coming time of reckoning where those orchestrating the ideals of PNU in Kisii land will graze on grass as the Biblical Nebuchardnnezer.

"They should stop cheating Abagusii community with party of no understanding and direction" declared Magara.

Meanwhile the on going debate on federalism, Magara said those who believed in autocratic governance, were the key opposers of the system.

“Those who want to maintain the status quo are the proponents of central system of government. They are hell- bent to achieve their ill objectives by giving poor youths money to cause chaos everywhere like in Meru and Kisii” he stressed.

He noted that many Kenyans were languishing in poverty yet a few elites who amassed wealth through central government were wallowing in money and still wanted to remain the same at the top.

He reiterated the need to close the widening gap between the rich and the poor, a strategy he said could be realized through majimbo and end the perpetual disparity being witnessed all over in the country.

The besieged Magara said ODM stands for equitable distribution of resources regionally and not on tribal basis.

“Our opponents should understand English well and interpret what we mean by majimbo,” posed Magara.

This, he said would work well for the poor folk whose taxES and other resources were being controlled by one man and his cronies for themselves adding reconstruction would be realized thereby bringing all communities in Kenya at par with one another through federal system as stipulated in Bomas draft constitution..
