UN report: Kenya's economic growth pays as it moves from LDCs status
NAIROBI, July 20 (Xinhua) --
Kenya's recent sustained economic growth has pushed it ahead of the world' s least developed countries, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) says in its 2007 report.

The UN report launched late Thursday in Nairobi says Kenya was performing well in all key economic indicators considered. The change is attributed to economic growth driven by a fast expanding private sector and tourism, says The Least Developed Countries Report 2007.

Launching the report in Nairobi, Prof. Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka,the director of UN-HABITAT's Monitoring and Research Division, said the change means the country is on the path to poverty reduction and towards sustained economic growth.

Oyeyinka said Kenya scored high in terms of im proved incomes, literacy levels, life expectancy, vulnerability and growth of private enterprises.
