Response to Pastor Karanja

From: Charles Nyakundi

To my friend, Pastor Karanja,

In the recent past you seem to have regained some vigour and time, such that you are perpetually in these media queues. No one has any right to question that. However, it is increasingly becoming confussing to me, in trying to understand the rationale behind some of your articles.

As of old, I have known you as a "born again, God fearing man." You may be well aware, of the Bible verse that says:- "thou shalt not judge, so as to be judged" condemning other people the way you tried to do, has nothing to do with the current politics in Kenya. Those are purely your own prejudices. You erred on that assumption.

Secondly, we should not aspire to bring other people down, on the strength of their acquaintances' sins. Some people say, "Kibaki is good but his friends are bad" or "Raila associates with bad people." This means nothing. All we need to hear is either "Kibaki is good/bad or likewise, "Raila is good/bad" judged on their own merits. Sweeping generalizations make no sense.

Finally, I have observed some people doing fight on the internet with each other. I have a few questions for them.

1.Do you know that, the long and meticulous narratives you post do not and will not influence the masses who are going to vote, since they have no access to them? (You are singing to yourselves!)

2.Do you know that some of you portray yourselves in a negative way? I am not talking of Political affiliations but the way you want to force your ideas down other people's throats?

3.Do you know that you cannot influence anyone on how to vote unless he/she is illiterate or mad? Besides, people in the diaspora will not be voting regardless of the perception that because they send some money to relatives they have a say in determining who to be voted for? I am yet to learn how your votes will be counted!

4.Have you observed that besides Ole Sakuda vying on an ODM ticket, in Kajiado, all other aspirants from the Diaspora will be vying on fringe parties? The list is accessible.

5.Worse still, You may begin searching yourself, by reflecting when you voted in Kenya last. Let the people in Kenya choose their leaders!

Thank you.
