re: "FINAL" election results as instructed from "State House" to ECK

Kenyans, get hold of yourselves! During the 2000 US Presidential elections, the suspense was even more than what we are witnessing. Americans did not riot, rape women, throw stones, break windows, burn houses, or challenge policemen. They did not congregate in their Capital and town squares.

They waited patiently for the counting to be done. Eventually, the final tally was declared and it was a very very close election. Bush got 50,460,110 votes and Gore got 51,003,926, with Bush carrying the Electoral College votes.

There was no rioting and rape and killings and threats of evictions. Natives of Florida did not evict natives of Texas or Missouri or Utah. Americans patiently waited for the courts to determine the case and declare a winner. Once declared, the entire country closed ranks and moved on. Why? Because Americans value political stability more than they value precision democracy.

Our behavior at this time will show not only how patriotic we are, but also how democratic we are as Kenyans and Africans. A democracy is one where protagonists do not resort to violence to resolve their differences.

My advice for you all is to chill and think long and hard about what kind of country we want. I want a peaceful, prosperous country. However, I know that not everyone wants the same things as I do. All I can say is that those who prefer violence should realize that we are all human beings and that it is blood that courses through our veins, not spermatozoa, the excretion of which we can at least enjoy.

If there is violence in that funny country, you will all suffer - the warrior societies and the Agriculturalits alike.

So call your people in Kenya and speak some sense to them. After all, even if Kibaki is declared the winner, which he might be, he will not enjoy any smooth sailing because he will be forced to work with a very hostile parliament. So, in a sense, even without Raila occupying state house, ODM has won big time. But if their idea of winning is commandeering their way into State House, I can’t help them.

Kenyans, use your heads! Call your relatives at home and calm things down. If your relatives get killed, or if they murder somebody, you won't say I did not warn you.

I beg to disagree. Kenyans have waited 5 long, painful years for this moment, showed resilience and maturity on election day, and lots of patience thereafter. All because like a jury they knew they had delivered their verdict, and are waiting patiently for the judge to pronounce it.

To even imagine subjecting kenyans to another 5 years of kibaki rule when we so overwhemingly went out to vote for change is more than most kenyans can contain, I assure you Kioko. Dont get me wrong I am all for peace, but let not the peaceful nature of Kenyans be mistaken for corwaridice. Moi fed us that "peace" line long enough in his 24 year rule as he and his goons plundered this country, as they laughed their way to the bank, najority of us languished (and still do) in poverty.

As for your justification of the blatant rigging that's happneing in full view of the whole world by saying kibaki would have to content with a hostile parliament, please spare us the hogwash. We all know how thick skinned he and his lot are.

We are not accepting a rigged election, period.

Apparently ECK has received orders from state house (Nairobi) to announce the election results as follows:
Kibaki......4,176,437
Raila........4,117,223

Difference: 59,114

Kibaki is trying to remain in power by force through rigged elections when kenyans have gone to the polls and overwhelmingly spoken & chosen ODM & raila as the democratic voice of Kenya.

There are over 20,000 people outside KICC waiting to hear this "trash" announced as the final position. let's see how the events unfold following this kind of intimidation upon peace loving Kenyans. We are in a time of test, let's pray that Kibaki will be man enough and concede defeat.

What next?

Steve Aseno.
