The Economy Has Grown

Kenyans,

Like I told you last week, I have started a new blog! http://mwaikibaki2007.blogspot.com/

Here's one of the latest entries (please visit the blog and leave your comments. Also sambaza this to your friends. Thanks)

Last weekend I happened to be out of town. I missed blogging but, as you are aware I had to present my parliamentary seat papers to ECK.

I had an enjoyable ride to Nyeri. As I sat in the limo I tended to have many reassuring thoughts about the fourth coming election. One of the thoughts which I have to share on is the economic growth we have achieved.

Some fellows who are blind keep on saying that not only is 6% economic growth too little but that no common Mwananchi has experienced this phenomenon. I took a calculator and did some quick sum. Numbers dont lie- take that from a Makerere graduate in economics.

This is how the calculation went like. My Friend and Lieutenant Joe Wanjui was worth USD 10 Billion when we came to power. This is a guy like all of you. Simple and not rich. That is why I gave him a job at the university so that his kids will not sleep hungry.

If in the last five years we have grown by 6 % how much has wealth grown by ? Assume simple interest just to be pessimistic.

USD 10,000,000,000 X 6/100X4 = USD 240,000,000 . Imagine he has become USD 240 Million richer. This is what I mean. 6% is not small and common guys like Wanjui are enjoying the growth.

I have asked Waititu to carry out a research to see whether Kenyans have benefited. From the raw data he is working on the economy has clearly grown except to the blind. He told me even among the poor who play golf at Nairobi railways Club things are looking up.

It is only lazy people who complain. Let them complain. Our party has no room for these guys. They can all go to ODM or wherever else. That is where they belong.
