New Districts? Ofcourse None for the Giant Siaya District

From: Noah Otieno

Since independence, Siaya has been the District that ALL the past and present presidents of Kenya want to sideline and forget - like, an illegitimate child who has been disowned by the mother.

Since the last subdivision into Bondo and Siaya in the late 80s, Siaya remains the largest district with 3 large constituencies and no less than 8 divisions. According to the latest and one of the oldest PNU men, 'siasa mbaya maisha mbaya'.

So Siaya suffered as a siasa mbaya district most of Moi's 24 year rule as Kuria and Suba were politically created. And even though the incumbent president strongly condemned this unfair political policy during his take over in 2002, he has perfected the policy by subdividing the Bondo district to benefit his ally Tuju. For those who do not know, Rarieda District is smaller than any of the 3 constituencies in Siaya. Look at the several one constituency districts in and out of Nyanza. Will anybody be the voice of the voiceless for the sake of Siaya? Shame on those who have thought remaining large is a well deserved punishment for the 'bad' politically mined people. Do you require more than commonsense to see lack of equity in the recent awards of new districts. Is politics all there is in creation of new districts? As a resident of Siaya, I feel pretty disgruntled. If any Siaya resident votes for the benefit of them who have no regard for our future progress.... I believe that the government you will vote on 27th November will ensure equity for ALL, even the forgotten and the politically irrelevant.
