Emergency Response: UAE Committee - No Money Required, Only Food, Clothing, Toiletry & Hygiene Supplies

-----
Dear All,

Apologies for those receiving this message for the second time, but there have been a few recommendations....and please forward this email to all Kenyans......

Guys, the issue here is 'MOST SHORT TERM SOLUTION' to assist those who are VERY MUCH IN NEED; those going hungry everyday, the orphaned, displaced and those who have no shelter.

As mentioned in my rather long (short messaging system), there is a problem back home and we over here who sleep in nice beds, have warm showers and eat wholesome meals, should, if not compelled, assist as much as we can for our brothers and sisters who are in Kenya and have recently witnessed the violence.

This is not a moment to give YOUR money BUT rather give from your heart; food, clothing, hygiene and toiletry supplies. This is only to help in the shortest term and perhaps a long term vision can be organised at another stage.

The basic survival needs required are:

    * Food supplies: Rice, Semolina, Canned meats & veggies, powdered milk (Nido) etc, Beans, Green beans
    * Toiletry & hygiene supplies: Bath Soap, Detergent soaps (Sabuni ya kipande), tissues, sanitary towels etc and any thing you can think of,
    * Clothing: any hand me downs, t-Shirts, Shorts and mostly for babies and children from ages 1-12…these will be supplied to the orphanages.

I believe on the drawing board, we can plan, agree and implement this committee. We need to get together to create a committee that will ensure the most basic survival needs are met and sent to our Kenyan brothers and sisters in whole (Kenyans). Our brothers and sisters in the international diaspora: US, UK, Australia and other European countries are sending funds. What we can do our end is send the above mentioned supplies to Kenya to complement the shortage. I suggest buying these products over here in the UAE as the inflation has skyrocketed to the 100's percent and so buying in Kenya would be a futile effort.

To facilitate this, we will need volunteers to be responsible for certain duties such as:

   1. a central place where all these supplies can be kept, perhaps in someone’s house, a donated room in the UAE
   2. a select who will foresee the handling and transferring of these supplies to Kenya either by Somali based cargo, or by flight for those friends of ours who fly to Nairobi often
   3. a select who will also be on the receiving end, be it in Eastleigh , JKIA or a designated point
   4. a select who will identify points of neediness i.e. Orphanages, women’s shelters etc. The target here is to feed the children.
   5. a select who will ensure that these supplies get to the needy and not re-routed elsewhere for personal sustainement
   6. and a select who will report on the logistics of the transfers with honesty, reliability and Godliness.
   7. and last but not least donation of your time, (an hour, telephone, meeting place etc)

I have volunteered to organise this committee and anyone who has any suggestions or willing to forth come with advice, recommendations please, you are most welcome to do so. I can be reached on email: nyarhomy@hotmail.com or on 050 943 0377.

Let’s stop watching and sympathising; let us do something by getting out there and complimenting Kenyans with basic survival needs.

These are my two cents and please, anyone who has any suggestions, points of correction and alternative strategies, kindly do so.

No one is perfect here; we are just trying to do something to those in need and as long as we are in a position to assist, let us do so with one heart.

Above else, let us pray that PEACE is restored.

Many thanks,
Cathy.
