Petition on Police brutality in Kisumu

Wed, 9 Jan 2008 23:40:39 -0800

This is an urgent appeal to all those people who believe in Human Rights and the sanctity of life.

We have learnt that the killing and destruction that took place in Kisumu was pre-meditated. Kibaki and his team had planned this early enough, and the instruction they gave to the police was to shoot to kill.

Then Kisumu had to be burned down, to portray the Luo as a useless, unfriendly lot. They even had the courage to go back and burn Kibuye Market, and those who tried to salvage their burning property, were promptly shot at by the police.

Yes, we had some looting in Kisumu, just like there were in several places in the country, but since when did looting turn into fire?

All of us must turn the heat on Kibaki and ask why he wanted the Luo to be such killed. We must petition the UN and all other related bodies to intervene.

It is now a known fact that as people rioted in Kisumu, they did not hurt even a fly. But it is the police who shot and killed as many as 70 people initially. The number has since gone up. And the police are still killing more Luos.

We must ask the police to tell us they burned Kisumu at whose instigation and order.

Luos are also Kenyans and we also deserve leadership at all levels. Can somebody craft a petition that will go to all those who can be of help?

Kibaki and the police must not be allowed to go scott free on this.

Odhiambo -
That's what we call garbage (BS). Just like Raila, you are trying to show the world that Luo community is targeted and being attacked. Get something else to keep you occupied.

Mr. Munene:

are kikuyus targeted? is Martha Karua and Kimunya wrong when they mince no words about the 'targeting' of the master tribe?
