Youth Agenda and CCR-Kenya Forums: DEAR KENYANS

Dear YAA members,

Really I’m aghast by the kind of communication going on in this our dear site. I believe we are here first because we underwent some training by the Youth Agenda; and none of the topics was on tribalism and / or patronage to the politicians of Kenya.

Actually going by the YOUTH dream of 1997-2003 we were ready to ensure we take over the seats in the10th Parliament by storm. Going by what I read here I’m not sure we will ever get there.

Really some issues are emotive and we all have capacity to speak our minds; but of what benefit is it at this time when our country is on fire? Why can’t we adapt a policy of not adding fuel to this fire by NOT saying what we know can not save the situation?

Do we as our generation stand to give hope and direction to this nation? If age was the thing to go by; perhaps we would think that the older leaders are the ones who have held Kenya hostage; but by all indications we are playing into a bad game of etching in our minds biases and prejudices that will make us worse than them now that we are more energetic and will live long after they are gone.

Let's all endeavor to write history that is worth reading by our grand children when we are long gone; giving Kenya a legacy of hope and prosperity.

Hold your hose you who want to say this can’t be achieved with out justice… VERY TRUE!! but consider that we all live ONLY because a divine deity rules the cosmos and allows us to face another day; even the Mussolini’s and Hitler’s of the world had to go the way of the earth when time was up; just as the saintly mother Teresa and Joan of Arc had to do too.

What I’m alluding to is that life is sacred; only God has the power to take and give life. As it is; on reading some people’s writings here it appears they wish some tribes were extinct from the face of the earth.

What does it profit me or you if this happens?? Can we then stop the rationalization of the cause and effect logic that can easily be used to polarize the nation further and speak words of healing to this nation.

Right now the big shots in Kenya do not suffer when my parents and siblings are suffering just as yours are; (assuming we too remain safe). We then as the responsible citizens must soar to greater heights of brotherhood and sister hood.

Let’s rise to be counted; keep away from spitting venom for surely the day of reckoning will come for us all.

     Sincerely,
     Rachael

Wakenya Ndugu,

I have watched this space for some time and regret that what goes on here is a pity.

Friends, Kenya is burning, bleeding name it and as much as there is freedom for us to express our ideas and feelings freely, we need to do so with self respect.

Assumingly,if the kind of people who are on this lists and especially those who make contributions are honourable partriotic Kenyans, we deserve more brothers and sisters.

We should by all costs desist from making statements that fuel the chaos, making statements full of prejudice and diatribes. Let us listen to ourselves and candidly and boldly design a way forward out of this impasse.

Time wasted addressing non-issues could be constructively invested towards building consensus for a new equitable Kenya. The issues at hand concern the historical problems and issues that Kenya has to address to start on a clean slate towards developing itself.

I open my case, Kenya.

     Sincerely,
     Kenyan: Douglas Arege
