Re: Luo Community Way Forward

Wed, 16 Jan 2008 07:35:25 -0800 (PST)

Ochichi,

I do not want to take the same kind of thinking that you have taken. I have been an active member of ODM.

We started far. In 1990s, we formed Ford, and I remember one man called Kenneth Matiba who was one of our cogs. He was and is still Kikuyu.

We moved on, and in the struggle, Her Worship Mumbi Ngaru has been constantly with us. In this, if tribe was to play card, we have had very able Kenyans with us through this from the Kikuyu community.

But in the struggle, tribe has not been an issue. We have looked at the problem.

If tribe would have been the issue, I would not have been elected the Secretary for ODM in Embakasi Constituency. I would have gone to vie in some very safe zone. The same applies for our Captain.

When all presidential candidates sought for votes from the safety of their tribal loyalty, our Captain was in Nairobi's Langata Constituency.

I would want to give you a tough lecture not to think tribal. We have weighty issues to address as Kenyans. And in doing this, where you come from becomes irrelevant.

I would hence urge you to be level headed, and look at the struggle as a Kenyan affair. Nobody is pitting anybody against his brother.

You know it has now become obvious that the Kikuyus reject even their wives, community, girlfriends and dogs for power. Those are the power hungry. Kenya will never be the same and change is coming whether Kibaki likes it or not. Even if it will mean arming ourselves know that we will bring change. You have killed brothers of people in the army. They will respond and know that it will be catastrophic. Kenyans will fight to the bitter end and Kibaki wont manage it.
