RE: KIKUYU-LUO HARMONY

Subject:  Hopefully, we will live to see a better Kenya, and a better tommorrow

Dear Kenyans and friends of Kenya,

It is sad that we Kenyans continue to malign, belittle, and degrade each other.

We are getting sidetracked by our ethnicity. Meanwhile, core issues (such as, justice, security, poverty, and ignorance, among others), go unattended.

Hopefully, the Kofi Annan initiatve yields progess because we are all Kenyans with equal rights and privileges.

Long after the dust has settled, after we have moaned, after we have buried our dead, long after we have counted our loses and begun to rebuild our humble abodes, after our losses start to pinch harder and long after our anger subsides, long after heartaches start to heal, we will remember our pain and continue to live together as Kenyans.

Our Kenyan President and our honourable MPs will continue to enjoy their fat paycheques while we the taxpayer struggle to survive. Our leaders will continue to misuse the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and whether we like it or not, corruption will resume, unless we curb it, put measures in place to nip it in the bud.

For the majority of us Kenyans, our poverty will compel us to cooperate with our neighbours, irrespective of their tribe, language, origin, cultural tradition or religion. We will continue to live together with uneasy respect for each other, as heavily burdened Kenyans.

After the dust has settled and grass has grown on the graves of the dead, life will continue as usual unless we start to make fundamental changes in our structures of government and introduce democratic checks and balances to ensure proper utilization and equitable distribution of our national resources across provinces. There is also an urgent need to address constitutuional inadequacies with a view to redistribute power and demistify the presidency.

Hopefully, we will sieze this opportunity to address the issues that ail our promising country.

Hopefully, we will live to see a better tommorrow and a better Kenya, both for us and our children.

Hopefully, we will live to see better leadership, and good neigbourliness in Kenya.

It will be interesting how views in this forum will change as soon as Raila changes his stand. Mark my words. If Raila was to say Kibaki Tosha again... "Tosha" views will be the order. No man or Woman from Luoland can or even dare have a different opinion from Raila.

I don't understand it. Why do most people try to run away from the real issue by introducing other sideshows that are irrelevant to this issue?

The Point is that we have had an uprising of the people after their votes and an election victory was stolen from them by Kibaki. What followed that action was not a fight between Kikuyus and Luos. Everybody must get this straight.
